Our Staff

Dr. Randy Gardner became pastor of First Baptist in March, 2006. Randy is a graduate of Gardner-Webb College and Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary, with post-graduate training in pastoral counseling and is a licensed marriage and family therapist. He has served as pastor to churches in North and South Carolina and Virginia. He has also worked as a pastoral counselor as a hospice chaplain.
Randy and his wife Sara, were married in 1974. They have two children, Clay who is married to Jennifer Street, and Clary who is married to Kristopher Aaron. Clay and Jennifer are the proud parents of Randall Troy who Randy and Sara enjoy spoiling.
They have participated in and led retreats for the Association of Couples for Marriage Enrichment and the Southern Baptist Family Ministry Department and have been contributing writers for marriage enrichment features in denominational magazines and devotional materials. They have also led regional, state, and local marriage enrichment retreat and workshops. Active in denominational life, Randy has served on the South Carolina Cooperative Baptist Fellowship Coordinating Council and the National Coordinating Council of the Cooperative Baptist Fellowship. Randy is currently serving on the Council on Endorsements for Chaplains and Pastoral Counselors for CBF.

Mr. Scott Davis came to First Baptist in January, 1997 to serve as Minister of Music. Scott is a graduate of Furman University and The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary. Scott has served churches in South Carolina, Georgia, and Florida, coming to First Baptist from the Laurel Baptist Church in Greenville, South Carolina. He has been a member of the Greenville Symphony Chorus, the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra Chorus, as well as the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra Chorus European Tour Ensemble.
Scott also is actively involved with the South Carolina Singing Churchmen. He also served as the Music Director for the Colleton Baptist Association.
